Looking to add a little luxury to your home? Londoners Reece and Paul have shared how to create stylish gold wall shelves using a piece of metal — and it cost them just £15.

The interior enthusiasts, who run the Instagram account @littleedwardian, created a luxurious look by using brass sheets from metals4U to cover the ugly edges of the shelves in their bedroom.

With wall-mounted decorative shelves often coming with a high price tag attached, this nifty hack is brilliant for anyone on a shoe-string budget. The duo opted for brushed brass sheets in a satin polish finish, while adding the bright polish brass sheets to the shelves in their kitchen.

'This great interior hack shows just how much you can save if you know how to be savvy with materials,' says Paul McFadyen, Managing Director at metals4U. 'We've seen an increase in metal sheets used for home interiors over the years as people have begun to share more of their renovation experiences across social media and DIY hacks across TikTok.'

'Metal sheets are inexpensive and can really upscale the look of a home. Brass is great for the golden shades, whereas aluminium will give you a brilliant silver shine or if a darker metallic is more to your taste, then copper could be a great choice.'

If you want to recreate this look at home, follow the simple steps below:

1. Firstly, choose somewhere sturdy and cut the metal sheets with an electric saw. Ensure you wear productive gloves, not forgetting goggles or glasses to protect your eyes. Reece and Paul used these bright polished metal sheets, however there are lots of styles available.

2. Once you've cut the sheet to your preferred size, you can then use polyurethane-based adhesive such as Gorilla super glue to put the sheet into place on the wood. Stick it down firmly and leave to dry.

3. After this, attach your shelf to the wall and arrange with your favourite accessories. Don't forget to use the correct metal polish for maintenance and upkeep — this will keep your metal shelves looking as good as new.
