Champalimaud Design elegantly pays homage to the vibrant spirit of the Music City

Hilton’s Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand has inaugurated its maiden hotel in Nashville. Situated within the city’s new Broadwest mixed-use development in the heart of Midtown, the 234-key Conrad Nashville was crafted by Champalimaud Design to enliven Tennessee inspirations with modern touches.

Bold and contemporary references throughout the property were conceived to contextualize the scale of the architecture as well as embody the rhythm of music. “Our design reflects a new notion of ‘the Music City,’ integrating music in a less direct and more curated, abstract sense,” says Champalimaud principal Jun Chun. “Music is a unifying theme throughout the interiors, deconstructed and expressed in visual layers of texture and movement. Abstracted patterns of sheet music inspire dynamic spaces balanced by quiet and sophisticated details.”

A theatrical spiral staircase punctuates the arrival experience in the double-height lobby. The stairs are detailed with a satin-finished brass balustrade inspired by musical instruments as well. Locally sourced artwork serves as striking focal points against a rich palette of dark woods, brass, bronze, and neutral tones reflective of Nashville’s warm spirit. Public spaces are adorned with Paldao wood and quarter-figured eucalyptus as well.

In addition to 17,000 square feet of contemporary event space, a trio of F&B options designed by Blau & Associates are housed onsite, including the main restaurant Blue Aster, which hosts guests across a dining room, terrace, and the polished Lounge at Blue Aster. Indoor-outdoor bar Thistle & Rye is located on the third floor of the hotel, overlooking downtown Nashville from its large windows and patio.

Averaging 450 square feet, sophisticated accommodations are equipped with sweeping headboards, bespoke wall sconces, and expansive wardrobes. Balconies are attached to each suite, which also boast full-size dressing rooms and soaking tubs. Meanwhile, the 3,000-square-foot grand suite is home to a freestanding soaking tub in addition to a 10-seat dining table, a movie room, and butler’s pantry.
